PSG Creates History in Budapest
The Champions League final, held on May 30, saw French giants Paris Saint-Germain defeat Arsenal 5-4 in a dramatic penalty shootout to retain their European crown.
With the victory, PSG became the first French club to win the UEFA Champions League twice and only the second European club to successfully defend the title in consecutive seasons. The triumph also marked the club’s 60th major trophy overall and its 42nd title since Qatar Sports Investments took over in 2011.
Luis Enrique’s Side Continues Dominance
Under manager Luis Enrique, PSG have continued to establish themselves among Europe’s elite clubs. The Spanish coach has now won 12 trophies with the Paris-based side, making him the most successful manager in the club’s history.
The French champions also enjoyed an impressive European campaign, scoring 45 goals throughout the Champions League season at an average of 2.8 goals per match. Their attacking record matched one of the highest-scoring campaigns ever seen in the competition.
Having already secured a fifth consecutive domestic league title, PSG further strengthened their status as one of the dominant forces in modern European football.
As UEFA reflects on another successful Champions League season, Budapest’s organization of the final has been widely recognized as a benchmark for future host cities.
