She said she aims to deepen the Japan-India strategic partnership in view of the evolving global situation, enhance cooperation in economic security, and promote stronger business collaboration in investment and innovation.
Takaichi also stressed the importance of closer cooperation between the two democracies in ensuring a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP). Business Forum to Boost Economic Ties
As part of her visit, Takaichi will also participate in a Japan-India Joint Economic Forum, where representatives from more than 150 Japanese companies and business organisations are expected to attend.
The forum aims to encourage greater private-sector participation, expand investment opportunities, strengthen innovation partnerships, and create new avenues for economic cooperation between the two countries.
The visit also marks Takaichi’s first official trip to India since assuming office as Japan’s Prime Minister, making it an important milestone in bilateral relations.
Strong Partnership Continues
India and Japan have steadily expanded cooperation across defence, trade, infrastructure, clean energy, digital technology, and supply chain resilience. The annual summit provides both nations with an opportunity to review ongoing initiatives and chart the future course of their strategic partnership.
With growing geopolitical challenges in the Indo-Pacific and increasing emphasis on economic security, the outcomes of the summit are expected to further strengthen cooperation between Asia’s two leading democracies.
