Beginning his address with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” PM Modi lauded the Indian diaspora for keeping Indian traditions alive despite being far away from their homeland.

“The colour of the passport, address and time zone may change, but the spirit of Indians and their connection with Maa Bharati always remains alive,” the Prime Minister said.

He noted that while many civilizations across history disappeared with time, India’s diverse culture continues to thrive in the hearts of Indians around the world. Modi also praised the community for preserving ancestral languages, traditions and family values while adapting to Dutch society.

The Prime Minister further appreciated Indian community radio stations in the Netherlands for promoting Indian music and culture among younger generations and Dutch households.

Highlighting the significance of May 16, PM Modi recalled that on the same day in 2014, the results of the Lok Sabha elections paved the way for a stable majority government in India after decades.

He said the trust and support of the Indian people over the years have continuously motivated him in public service.

“When I look back at my 13 years as Chief Minister and 12 years as Prime Minister, the support of millions of voters is not just a number but a great strength for me,” Modi remarked.
