PM Modi Meets Dutch Royals to Boost Bilateral Ties:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met Netherlands King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima at the Royal Palace Huis ten Bosch in The Hague and discussed ways to further strengthen India-Netherlands relations across several important sectors, including technology, innovation, commerce and water management.

The Prime Minister stated that the discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and building a stronger strategic partnership between the two nations.

“Met His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima at the Royal Palace. It was wonderful exchanging perspectives on boosting India-Netherlands friendship across key sectors like technology, innovation, sustainable growth, commerce and water resources,” PM Modi posted on X after the meeting.
He further said that India and the Netherlands are connected through shared interests and a common vision for a future-ready and sustainable world.
Focus on Strategic Partnership
PM Modi’s ongoing visit to the Netherlands is aimed at deepening bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation through a Strategic Partnership framework. This marks the Prime Minister’s second visit to the European nation and comes at a significant time in diplomatic relations between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India-Netherlands relations have witnessed considerable growth in recent years, particularly in trade, investment and the WAH sectors — water, agriculture and health.
The partnership has also expanded into emerging and strategic sectors such as semiconductors, renewable energy, innovation, defence, maritime security, education and advanced technology.

Strong People-to-People Ties
People-to-people connections continue to play a major role in India-Netherlands relations. The Netherlands is home to more than 90,000 non-resident Indians and persons of Indian origin, along with over 200,000 members of the Suriname-Hindustani community.
Additionally, around 3,500 Indian students are currently studying in Dutch universities, many of them pursuing courses in technology and innovation-driven fields.
PM Modi Addresses Indian Community in The Hague
Earlier in the day, PM Modi attended a reception organised for the Indian community in The Hague, where he received a warm welcome from members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister praised the Indian community for its contribution to Dutch society and described them as a living bridge of friendship between the two countries.
He also acknowledged the deep historical and cultural connection of the Suriname-Hindustani community with India and appreciated their efforts in preserving Indian traditions and heritage across generations.
PM Modi highlighted that Indian professionals working in the technology sector and Indian students studying in Dutch institutions are helping strengthen contemporary relations between India and the Netherlands.
He also pointed out that sports such as Cricket and Hockey continue to add vibrancy to cultural and people-to-people ties between the two nations.
“Deeply touched by the immense enthusiasm and affection of the Indian community at the community programme in The Hague. Their energy and connection with India are deeply special,” PM Modi posted on X.
