Government Responds: CM Revanth Reddy Orders Relief Measures
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the incident, calling it a “heart-wrenching tragedy.” Taking to social media platform X, he wrote:
> “The horrific Telangana Highway Crash that occurred in Chevella Mandal has caused profound shock. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. The government will support their families in every possible way and stand by them.”
The Chief Minister has directed the Collector, local MLAs, and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to visit the accident site and oversee the relief and rescue operations. He also instructed officials to ensure the injured are shifted to Hyderabad for better medical treatment and to keep him informed with regular updates.
Investigation and Safety Concerns
Authorities are examining whether negligent driving, fatigue, or mechanical failure played a role in the accident. Locals have long complained about poor visibility, over-speeding, and lack of proper dividers along the Hyderabad–Bijapur highway, which has witnessed several fatal crashes in recent years.
As rescue teams continue to clear the wreckage, the tragedy has reignited discussions on road safety measures, particularly concerning heavy vehicles operating on narrow or high-speed routes.
