Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation in Health
The Ministry of Public Health in Kabul has expressed deep appreciation for India’s timely and valuable assistance, noting that the aid represents an important step toward improving Afghanistan’s healthcare infrastructure.
Officials said the supplies will be particularly beneficial in high-risk regions where outbreaks of malaria and dengue are most prevalent. The support not only delivers immediate relief but also reinforces Afghanistan’s capacity-building efforts in disease surveillance, diagnosis, and treatment.
India’s assistance comes shortly after Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi visited New Delhi in October, where he held discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. The two sides discussed India’s continued support for Afghanistan’s development, public health, and trade cooperation.
India’s Continued Humanitarian Role
During the visit, Jaishankar also announced the donation of five ambulances and additional food supplies for earthquake-affected people in Afghanistan. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reiterated that such initiatives reflect India’s enduring commitment to the Afghan people.
This latest delivery of medical aid highlights India’s role as a reliable and responsible partner in promoting health, stability, and humanitarian assistance in the region.
