A review meeting on the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme was held today at Pragna Bhawan, Agartala, to evaluate the implementation progress and strategize for the next phase of the initiative across Tripura.

The meeting was chaired in the presence of Sri Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, State Mission Director – Tripura Urban Livelihood Mission (TULM), Sri Subrata Majumder, TCS, Additional State Mission Director, and Sri Uttam Kumar Mukharjee, Chief Manager, Punjab National Bank.
Senior officials including Assistant Commissioners of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Deputy CEOs and Deputy EOs of Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats, Lead District Managers (LDMs), bankers, and TULM officials from both State and City Mission Management Units attended the meeting.
Empowering Street Vendors Across Tripura
Under the PM SVANidhi Scheme, loans have been disbursed to 8,269 street vendors across Tripura, involving a financial outlay of ₹12.65 crore. The scheme aims to provide affordable working capital to street vendors, enabling them to restart their livelihoods post-pandemic and contribute to inclusive urban development.

Focus of the Review
The review meeting emphasized:
- Accelerating loan disbursals under upcoming tranches
- Strengthening coordination between ULBs and banking institutions
- Ensuring timely digital repayment incentives and credit linkage
- Expanding outreach to uncovered street vendors
The officials also discussed the roadmap for the next phase of PM SVANidhi, aimed at improving credit access, digital empowerment, and social security coverage among urban street vendors in Tripura.

Speaking at the event, Sri Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, highlighted that “the PM SVANidhi scheme is a crucial step toward building sustainable urban livelihoods and promoting self-reliance among the informal workforce.”
About PM SVANidhi
Launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the PM SVANidhi Scheme provides collateral-free loans up to ₹50,000 to street vendors, with incentives for digital transactions and timely repayments.
