Reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Afghan people, India on Thursday delivered 63,734 doses of Influenza and Meningitis vaccines to Kabul, strengthening ongoing humanitarian and healthcare support to the crisis-hit nation.

The Ministry of External Affair(MEA)confirmed the development through an official statement on social media, stating that India continues to support Afghanistan’s public health infrastructure during difficult times.

MEA Confirms Vaccine Delivery to Kabul
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the MEA said:
> “Reaffirming its commitment to support Afghanistan’s public health. India delivers 63,734 doses of Influenza and Meningitis vaccines to Kabul.”
The vaccines are expected to bolster Afghanistan’s disease prevention efforts, especially during the vulnerable winter period when respiratory illnesses typically rise.
Earlier Delivery of 73 Tonnes of Life-Saving Medical Aid
Just days earlier, on November 28, India dispatched 73 tonnes of life-saving medicines, vaccines, and essential nutritional supplements to Kabul. These supplies were aimed at fulfilling urgent healthcare requirements across Afghanistan.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had stated:
> “Augmenting Afghanistan’s healthcare efforts. India has delivered 73 tonnes of life-saving medicines, vaccines and essential supplements to Kabul to cater to urgent medical needs. India’s unwavering support to the Afghan people continues.”
Diplomatic Engagements to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation
India’s humanitarian outreach has also been accompanied by diplomatic engagements to enhance economic and people-to-people ties.
On November 20, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Afghanistan’s Industry and Commerce Minister Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi in New Delhi. The leaders discussed ways to improve trade, connectivity, and bilateral cooperation.
Following the meeting, Jaishankar wrote on X:
> “Pleased to meet Industry and Commerce Minister of Afghanistan, Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi. Discussed steps to strengthen trade, connectivity and people-to-people ties. Reiterated India’s support for the development and welfare of the Afghan people.”

India’s Assistance After Deadly Afghanistan Earthquake
India has also provided humanitarian relief following the devastating earthquake that struck the Balkh, Samangan, and Baghlan provinces on November 3, killing over 20 people and injuring hundreds.
Food items were supplied to the affected families, with MEA stating:
> “Reaffirming its support to the Afghan people, India delivers food items for the families affected by the earthquake.”
External Affairs Minister Jaishankar later spoke to Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, expressing condolences and confirming the delivery of emergency relief.
India’s Continued Commitment to Afghan People
Despite complex geopolitical circumstances, India has consistently maintained humanitarian engagement with Afghanistan through medical aid, food assistance, earthquake relief, and diplomatic outreach.
Observers note that India’s continued assistance highlights its focus on human security, regional stability, and people-centric diplomacy.
