Bollywood star Ranveer Singh’s blockbuster film Dhurandhar (Part 1) is set to release in Japan on July 10, 2026, following its record-breaking global success. The announcement was made by the makers through social media, generating excitement among international audiences.

The official Instagram handles of Jio Studios and B62 Studios shared the film’s poster featuring its title in English along with details in Japanese, signaling a strategic push into the Japanese market. In a collaborative post, the makers wrote that it is time for Japan to experience the “Dhurandhar energy,” confirming its theatrical release across the country.

Record-Breaking Global Success

The first installment of the spy-action entertainer had a phenomenal global run after its release on December 5, 2025. The film reportedly earned over ₹1,328 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time.

According to the makers, the film achieved several milestones internationally. It emerged as the No. 1 Hindi film of all time in North America and became the highest-grossing Indian film ever in Canada and Australia. It also ranked among the top-performing Indian films in the United Kingdom.

Star-Studded Cast and Storyline

Dhurandhar features an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, and Danish Pandor. The film is part of a two-part series.

The first installment revolves around a high-stakes covert counter-terrorism mission. It follows an undercover Indian intelligence agent who infiltrates criminal syndicates and political networks in Karachi to dismantle a terror operation targeting India.

Sequel Expands the Narrative

The sequel, titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, continues the story of the intelligence agent as he dives deeper into enemy territory. The narrative expands to include themes of vengeance, particularly in connection with the 26/11 attacks, while confronting larger geopolitical threats.

The storyline of the franchise is loosely inspired by real-life geopolitical events and conflicts in South Asia, adding a layer of realism to the high-octane action drama.

Direction and Production

The film is written, directed, and produced by Aditya Dhar, with Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar also serving as producers. It is presented by Jio Studios and produced under the banner of B62 Studios.
