In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old student from Hyderabad, Chandrashekar Pole, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at a gas station in Dallas, Texas, on Friday night. The young man had moved to the United States in 2023 for higher studies and had recently completed his master’s degree six months ago.

According to initial reports, Pole was working part-time at the gas station while searching for a full-time job opportunity when the fatal attack took place. Local authorities in Dallas have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the shooting.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA T. Harish Rao confirmed the news on Saturday, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of the young student. “The pain that the parents are going through, knowing that their son, who they believed would reach great heights, is no more, is heart-wrenching to witness,” Rao said on X (formerly Twitter) after meeting the bereaved family in Hyderabad.
Pole, who completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) before moving abroad, was known among peers as hardworking and ambitious. He had traveled to the United States with hopes of building a successful career and supporting his family back home.

Telangana MLA Demands Repatriation of Mortal Remains
Rao has urged the Telangana government to take immediate steps to bring back Pole’s mortal remains from Dallas to his hometown. “On behalf of our party, I request the government to ensure his body is brought home as soon as possible,” he said.
Family members of the deceased have been inconsolable, describing Chandrashekar as a “bright, dedicated, and loving son.” Community organizations in Texas and Indian diaspora groups have also extended support to coordinate the repatriation process.
Spike in Attacks on Indian Students Abroad Raises Concerns
The tragic death of Chandrashekar Pole adds to a growing list of violent incidents involving Indian students in the US. Over the past year, several such cases have raised safety concerns among families of international students, prompting calls for stronger protective measures and awareness initiatives.
Authorities in both India and the US have yet to release detailed information regarding the motive or suspects behind the attack. Meanwhile, friends and well-wishers continue to share tributes online, remembering Pole as an “ambitious dreamer who left too soon.”
