The makers of Eetha on Tuesday unveiled the first teaser of the much-awaited biographical drama starring Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Laxman Utekar, the film chronicles the extraordinary life of legendary Marathi Lavani and Tamasha artist Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, one of Maharashtra’s most celebrated folk performers.
The teaser has already generated significant buzz among audiences for its emotionally charged narrative and Shraddha Kapoor’s striking transformation into the iconic artist.

A Powerful Introduction to Eetha
The teaser opens with a massive crowd eagerly waiting for a performance by a popular folk dancer named Eetha. As chants from the audience grow louder, the scene shifts backstage where a heavily pregnant Eetha is shown in severe pain.
In a dramatic sequence, she gives birth moments before stepping onto the stage. Despite warnings about the life-threatening risks involved, she refuses to cancel her performance. Her powerful dialogue — “Padi padi mari toh bechari kehlaungi, naachte hue mari toh misaal ban jaaungi” — underscores her unwavering dedication to her art.
The teaser then showcases Shraddha Kapoor performing graceful Lavani dances while captivating the audience with her commanding stage presence.
Based on the Life of Vithabai Narayangaonkar
Eetha is inspired by the life and legacy of Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, a legendary figure in Maharashtra’s folk theatre tradition. Renowned for her Lavani and Tamasha performances, Vithabai became a cultural icon through decades of contributions to traditional performing arts.
The film’s title is derived from “Vitha,” a popular nickname associated with the artist. Set between the 1950s and the 1980s, the biopic aims to explore her personal struggles, professional achievements, and lasting impact on Marathi cultural heritage.

Stellar Cast and Creative Team
Apart from Shraddha Kapoor, the film features an impressive ensemble cast including Randeep Hooda, Nana Patekar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Anant Joshi, and Siddharth Jadhav in key roles.
The screenplay has been written by Kshitij Patwardhan, while cinematography is handled by Akash Agrawal. The music for the film has been composed by the celebrated duo Ajay-Atul.
