Padma Awards 2026 Conferred by President Murmu:
President Droupadi Murmu on Monday conferred the prestigious Padma Awards upon several distinguished personalities at the Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The awards recognised outstanding contributions across fields including arts, music, cinema, public service, literature, and industry.

Among the most notable recipients was veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, who was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan for his exceptional contribution to Indian cinema and the arts. The award was received on his behalf by actor and Member of Parliament Hema Malini.
The ceremony marked the first phase of the Padma Awards presentation for 2026, one of India’s highest civilian honours.

Dharmendra, N Rajam Among Top Honourees
Celebrated violinist N Rajam was also conferred with the Padma Vibhushan during the ceremony for her immense contribution to Indian classical music.
Former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and noted banker Uday Kotak received the Padma Bhushan for their distinguished service in public affairs and trade respectively.
The event witnessed the presence of senior government officials, dignitaries, cultural icons, and family members of award recipients at the iconic Rashtrapati Bhavan.

131 Padma Awards Announced This Year
The Government of India announced a total of 131 Padma Awards for 2026. These include:
- 5 Padma Vibhushan awards
- 13 Padma Bhushan awards
- 113 Padma Shri awards
Out of the total awardees, 19 are women, while 16 honours are being conferred posthumously.
According to official details, President Droupadi Murmu presented 66 awards during the first civil investiture ceremony, including 2 Padma Vibhushan, 6 Padma Bhushan, and 58 Padma Shri honours.
The remaining awards are expected to be presented during the second phase of the ceremony, the date for which will be announced later.

Instituted in 1954, the Padma Awards are among the highest civilian honours in India and are announced annually on the occasion of Republic Day.
