Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai Trailer Out:
The trailer of David Dhawan’s upcoming comedy entertainer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was released on Saturday, generating strong buzz among Bollywood fans. Starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde, the film promises a mix of romantic confusion, family drama and classic slapstick comedy.
The three-minute-fifteen-second trailer introduces Varun Dhawan’s character Jass, who finds himself trapped in a chaotic situation involving two women and two pregnancy announcements at the same time.

Courtroom Drama Sets the Tone
The trailer opens inside a courtroom where Jass and his wife Baani, played by Mrunal Thakur, are attending divorce proceedings.
When the judge asks the couple why they want to separate, Baani complains that Jass constantly wants romance. In response, Jass explains that he is only trying to start a family and have a baby with his wife.
The awkward exchange leaves the judge visibly confused and sets up the film’s comedic tone.
Varun Dhawan Gets Caught Between Two Women
The story takes a bigger twist when Jass meets Preet, played by Pooja Hegde, at a club. He tells her that he is single, and the two soon develop a romantic relationship.
However, the situation spirals out of control when Baani suddenly returns and reveals that she is pregnant. Before Jass can process the news, Preet also announces her pregnancy.
The trailer then dives into the chaos created by the double revelation, featuring comic misunderstandings, emotional confrontations, family confusion and energetic dance numbers.
Fourth Collaboration Between David and Varun Dhawan
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai marks the fourth collaboration between director David Dhawan and his son Varun Dhawan after Main Tera Hero (2014), Judwaa 2 (2017) and Coolie No. 1 (2020).
The screenplay has been written by Yunus Sajawal, while dialogues are by Farhad Samji. Cinematography is handled by Ayananka Bose and editing by Ritesh Soni.
The film was shot across Mumbai, Goa, Rishikesh and Scotland, with several dance and comedy sequences filmed in Glasgow and Edinburgh before production wrapped in late 2025.
Music for the film has been composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Javed-Mohsin, Rony Ajnali, Gill Machhrai and Akshay-IP.

Film’s Release Date Saw Multiple Changes
The film’s release journey has been marked by several postponements and date changes.
Originally scheduled for release on October 2, 2025, the film was later shifted to June 5, 2026. It was then briefly moved to June 12 after Yash’s Toxic announced a June 4 release date. The release was later pushed forward to May 22 before finally returning to June 5 after Toxic was indefinitely postponed.
Varun Dhawan publicly acknowledged the schedule changes and thanked Yash and Maddock Films for helping reset the release calendar.
Legal Controversy Over Chunari Chunari Remix
The film has also attracted controversy over the remix of the iconic song Chunari Chunari from David Dhawan’s 1999 hit Biwi No. 1.
Tips Industries denied reports claiming that Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is a remake of any previously released film.
At the same time, Pooja Entertainment accused Tips Industries of using the song without proper authorisation. The original track featured in Biwi No. 1, which was produced by Pooja Entertainment.
Following a legal plea by the production house, a court in Katihar, Bihar, reportedly granted a status quo order regarding the dispute.
Produced by Ramesh Taurani under Tips Films and co-produced by Gaurav Bose of Maximilian Films UK, the comedy entertainer is now set to hit theatres on June 5, 2026.
