Allegations of corruption and procedural lapses have rocked the Health and Family Welfare Department of Tripura, as the Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress (TPYC) demanded the immediate cancellation of the recent Optometry recruitment examination, citing massive irregularities and a suspected paper leak.

70–80% Questions Matched Leaked Paper: Aspirants Cry Foul
According to job aspirants, question papers with answers circulated on WhatsApp before the exam matched 70–80 percent of the actual test content.
Adding to their suspicion, candidates reported that neither question papers nor OMR carbon copies were returned after the test, raising doubts about the exam’s integrity.
The candidates also flagged multiple anomalies, including:
Errors and incomplete options in several questions.
Irregular distribution of OMR sheets.

Tripura Youth Congress Submits Deputation, Demands Transparency
A delegation led by TPYC president Neel Kamal Saha met the Director of the Health Department, urging the government to cancel the exam and hold a fresh, transparent test.
Speaking to reporters after submitting the deputation, Saha said the Youth Congress had already warned the department on October 17 about possible procedural violations.
“In the exam held across 85 seats, similar irregularities have surfaced again,” Saha said. “We had demanded the use of OMR sheets, and though a notice was issued, no proper syllabus was shared. Later, question papers leaked and confusion spread among candidates.”
Re-Examination Urged to Restore Trust
Saha emphasized that the Youth Congress has always advocated fairness and transparency in government recruitment.
“The authorities seem unwilling to listen. Genuine candidates are being left behind while irregularities continue,” he said.
The TPYC reiterated its demand for a re-examination conducted with complete transparency, adherence to norms, and accountability from officials involved in the recruitment process.
Broader Pattern of Recruitment Issues
Saha also drew parallels with the 2024 recruitment exam, where candidates were allegedly asked to write answers on plain paper instead of OMR sheets—an incident that triggered similar protests.
Observers note that recurring allegations of corruption and mismanagement in state recruitment processes have eroded public trust and sparked growing youth discontent in Tripura.
