PM Modi Hails Indian Navy on Navy Day 2025:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended warm greetings to all personnel of the Indian Navy on the occasion of Navy Day 2025, celebrating the force’s exceptional courage, commitment, and expanding maritime capabilities. Navy Day is observed every year on December 4 to commemorate the Indian Navy’s historic victory during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War, when Operation Trident destroyed several Pakistani vessels, including PNS Khaibar.

In a message on X, PM Modi praised the Navy’s legacy, modernisation efforts and its critical role in protecting India’s maritime frontiers.
> “Our Navy is synonymous with exceptional courage and determination. They safeguard our shores and uphold our maritime interests,” he said, highlighting the force’s growing self-reliance and enhanced defence preparedness.
The Prime Minister also recalled spending Diwali 2025 aboard the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, calling it a cherished and unforgettable experience.

Expanding Naval Strength & Global Role
In his video address, PM Modi stressed the Navy’s importance in securing India’s maritime boundaries, protecting trade routes, and strengthening global security partnerships.
“In the ocean, our Navy is determined to protect the maritime borders and commercial interests of the country. The strength of the Indian Navy is increasing exponentially,” he said.
He further emphasised that India has historically used strength for peace and humanity, noting that maritime stability is vital in today’s interconnected global economy.

Massive Naval Demonstration Off Kerala Coast
As part of Navy Day celebrations, the Indian Navy conducted a large-scale operational showcase off the Thiruvananthapuram coast in Kerala on Wednesday. The display included cutting-edge technology and multi-domain combat readiness.
Key highlights of the demonstration included:
1.19 major warships, including INS Vikrant
2.32 aircraft, including fighter jets and helicopters
3.Four fast intervention vessels
4.A frontline submarine
5.Manoeuvres highlighting warfare capabilities across air, surface and underwater domains
President Droupadi Murmu, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, witnessed the spectacular demonstration from Shangumugham Beach, applauding the Navy’s professionalism and preparedness.

The Indian Navy continues to strengthen defence capability through indigenous shipbuilding, strategic partnerships, and advanced technology. With increased deployment across the Indian Ocean Region, the Navy plays a crucial role in maintaining maritime peace and ensuring safe passage for global trade.
