Global Recognition for Mathematical Excellence

The European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) is one of the world’s leading competitions aimed at encouraging young women to excel in mathematics. Participants from across the globe compete in highly challenging problem-solving tests that demand deep analytical thinking and creativity.

Sanjana’s silver medal marks yet another milestone in her academic journey. Notably, this was her fourth time representing India at the international event, reflecting her consistent performance and dedication to mathematics.

PM Modi Highlights Achievement in ‘Mann Ki Baat’

During the latest episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Modi highlighted India’s success at the EGMO and praised the young achievers. Reacting to this recognition, Sanjana expressed gratitude and said the mention was a moment of immense pride.

She noted that such acknowledgment from the Prime Minister would inspire many students—especially girls—to pursue their passion for mathematics and other STEM fields. According to her, the encouragement also motivates her to aim higher in her future studies.

Rigorous Selection Process

Sanjana’s journey to the EGMO stage involved a demanding multi-level selection process. It begins with the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM), an objective examination that tests foundational skills.

This is followed by the Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO) and the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO), both subjective exams designed to assess deeper conceptual understanding and problem-solving ability.

Only a select group of top-performing students qualify for an intensive training camp, where they undergo advanced coaching and rigorous evaluation. From this camp, the best four students are chosen to represent India at the EGMO.
