India’s Ancient Wisdom:
India’s ancient civilisational wisdom must seamlessly align with a modern global outlook, Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani told young members of the Indian diaspora during an event in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Wednesday.

Speaking before more than 1,000 Indians, including professionals and students, the Minister urged the diaspora to embrace their dual identity with pride — staying rooted in India’s cultural legacy while actively participating in an interconnected world.
A Diverse Indian Community in Azerbaijan
The gathering brought together Indian professionals from oil and gas, hospitality, and commodity trading sectors, along with 380 Indian students pursuing higher education in Baku.

He noted that these organisations play a vital role in preserving India’s cultural identity abroad, acting as support systems and cultural anchors for the community.

Highlighting the nation’s remarkable progress across critical sectors, the Minister said India is emerging as a global leader in:
Digital innovation and connectivity
Renewable energy and sustainability
Space research and exploration
Economic growth and start-up expansion
He emphasised that the Indian diaspora has significantly contributed to these achievements through innovation, investment, and international collaboration.

Dr Pemmasani called the diaspora an essential partner in India’s global journey.
“Their success enhances India’s global standing, their investments generate opportunities, and their children become cultural bridges for the future,” he said, acknowledging the powerful role played by Indians living abroad.
He encouraged young professionals and students to remain connected with India — by sharing knowledge, mentoring innovators, partnering with businesses, or supporting new ventures.
