Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 at the Yashobhoomi International Convention Center in New Delhi, marking the beginning of Asia’s largest technology, telecommunications, and media event. According to official organizers, over 400 technology companies, 7,000 delegates, and nearly 150,000 visitors from more than 150 countries are attending IMC 2025. The event has drawn high-level delegations from Japan, Canada, the UK, Russia, Ireland, and Austria, reaffirming India’s growing partnerships in digital innovation and next-generation communication.
With more than 1,600 new use-cases on display across sectors such as 6G, satellite communications (SATCOM), artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, semiconductors, and clean technology, IMC 2025 is set to be a landmark in India’s push toward a digitally empowered economy.
Scindia Announces SATCOM Push for Rural Connectivity
Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced the issuance of three new satellite communication (SATCOM) licenses, emphasizing the government’s mission to extend satellite-based connectivity to rural and remote regions of India.
A dedicated SATCOM Summit at IMC 2025 will focus on leveraging satellite technology to close digital divides while ensuring data security, privacy, and sovereignty for India’s 1.2 billion digital users.
> “We are entering an era where connectivity is not a luxury but a necessity,” said Scindia. “Through SATCOM, 6G, and AI, India aims to empower every citizen with access to secure and inclusive technology.”
