Govt Launches Nationwide Airport Checks:
The Government of India has initiated an intensive nationwide review of airport operations after large-scale disruptions in IndiGo’s flight services triggered widespread delays and passenger inconvenience across major airports. The Ministry of Civil Aviation announced that a round-the-clock monitoring and inspection drive is now underway.

Government Begins 24×7 Airport Monitoring
Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed that senior officials have been deployed to major airports to examine on-ground challenges and ensure immediate assistance for stranded travelers. He stated on X (formerly Twitter) that both the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have been monitoring the situation in real time since December 3, when operational irregularities first began impacting schedules nationwide.
The Minister described the situation as “extraordinary circumstances” requiring urgent intervention from the highest levels of aviation governance.
High-Level Review Meeting Held
According to the Minister, a high-level meeting involving top officials of the Ministry and DGCA was held to evaluate:
1.Airport functioning and congestion management
2.Airline responsiveness and communication
3.Passenger service quality during delays and cancellations
During the meeting, officials were instructed to fan out across airports, conduct ground inspections, interact directly with passengers, assess staff deployment and handling procedures, and identify shortcomings.
“Any shortcomings identified, including feedback received through interactions with passengers, are to be addressed and rectified immediately,” Naidu said.

Passengers have continued to report issues on social media, including:

IndiGo—India’s largest airline by market share—has been struggling with operational disruptions affecting major airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The airline has not publicly disclosed the exact reason for the disruptions.
