NIA Tightens Grip on Key Suspects of Delhi Blast:
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), which took over the case from Delhi Police on November 16, has already arrested two aides of the suicide bomber, Dr Umar Muhammad Nabi.
A Delhi court on Monday sent Aamir Rashid Ali, a resident of Pampore, Jammu & Kashmir, to 10 days of NIA custody. The car used in the blast was registered in Ali’s name, and investigators say he helped Umar Nabi purchase and convert the vehicle into an improvised explosive device (IED).
Later, the agency apprehended Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danish, from Srinagar. Wani allegedly offered technical support, modifying drones and attempting to develop rudimentary rockets for the terror module. His arrest was made in connection with case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.
‘White-Collar’ Terror Module Relied on Food-Based Code Words
According to investigative sources cited by NDTV, the NIA uncovered a sophisticated white-collar terror network operating from Faridabad. Shockingly, the core members included four doctors whose medical licenses have now been revoked.
To mask their activities, the group used an unusual set of food-related code words on Telegram:
“Biryani” → Explosives
“Daawat” → Planned attack or operation
“Biryani is ready” → IED prepared
The arrested doctors have been identified as Muzamil Shakeel, Dr Umar Muhammad Nabi, Dr Shaheen Saeed, and Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather.

Imam Identified as Radicalisation Mastermind
Investigators believe the module’s radicalisation was orchestrated by Imam Irfan Ahmad from Shopian, Kashmir. Ahmad first met Dr Umar in 2020 during a hospital visit, which led to continued contact and eventual indoctrination.
Once convinced of Umar’s loyalty, he instructed him to recruit more members. The group was reportedly taken to meet Jaish-e-Muhammad operatives, where they received two AK-series rifles, both later recovered by authorities — one from Dr Shaheen Saeed’s vehicle.
Saeed claims she met the others only six months before the blast and insists she did not fully understand the group’s intentions.
Medical Licenses Revoked
Following their arrest, the names of all four doctors have been removed from the Indian Medical Register and the National Medical Register, barring them from practising medicine anywhere in India.
