CIDCO Open 2025:
Gurugram golfer Veer Ahlawat showcased composure, experience and finishing brilliance to win the Rs 1 crore CIDCO Open 2025, the first-ever professional golf tournament held at the Kharghar Valley Golf Course (KVGC), Navi Mumbai, on Friday.

Ahlawat sealed the title with a solid four-under 67 in the final round, finishing at 14-under 270, three shots clear of the field. The victory earned him a winner’s cheque of Rs 15 lakh, marked his second title of the 2025 season, and took his overall career tally to six professional wins on the PGTI.

Consistency Pays Off for the Leader
Standing tall at six-foot-four, the 2024 PGTI Order of Merit champion was the tournament’s most consistent performer. He led outright after the first two rounds and shared the lead after the third before delivering when it mattered most.
Despite a shaky middle phase on the final day—where he picked up two bogeys and a double-bogey after early birdies—Ahlawat never lost belief. Finding trouble in the trees on the fourth hole and the water on the ninth tested his resolve, but the leader regrouped strongly on the back nine.
Explosive Back Nine Seals Victory
With rivals Rohan Dhole Patil, Manu Gandas, and Michele Ortolani closing in, Ahlawat shifted gears from the 11th hole onwards. He produced a decisive stretch featuring one eagle and four birdies against a lone bogey over the last eight holes.
Key moments included a 20-foot eagle putt on the 12th, a 15-foot birdie on the 13th, and another long birdie conversion on the 18th, which effectively shut the door on the chasing pack.

Strong Finishes Across the Field
Pune golfer Rohan Dhole Patil (70-69-64-70), who shared the overnight lead, finished runner-up at 11-under 273, earning Rs 10 lakh and recording his best finish on the PGTI. The result propelled him from 42nd to 32nd in the PGTI rankings.
Manu Gandas of Gurugram and Italy’s Michele Ortolani finished tied third at 10-under 274, while Ravi Kumar of Chandigarh made headlines by registering the tournament’s third hole-in-one, acing the 13th hole en route to a tied ninth-place finish.
Ahlawat Reflects on the Win
Drawing on his DP World Tour experience in 2025, Ahlawat credited his mental strength for the victory.
> “Despite the tough stretch, I was confident because I’ve played well in tight situations before. Once my ‘A’ game came out, I knew I’d be hard to beat,” he said.
He also praised CIDCO and Larsen & Toubro for developing KVGC, calling it “one of the best golf courses in the country in terms of layout and length.”
