Four Ministers Also Take Oath

Alongside Sarma, four leaders were sworn in as ministers in the new Assam government. These included former Union Minister Rameswar Teli, Asom Gana Parishad President Atul Bora, UPPL leader Charan Boro and senior BJP leader Ajanta Neog.

Political observers believe the composition of the new ministry reflects the NDA’s focus on regional representation and alliance unity in Assam.

Growing Global Interest in Northeast India

The attendance of the US envoy at the swearing-in ceremony is being viewed as a significant diplomatic gesture at a time when international attention toward Assam and the Northeast is increasing.

The region has emerged as an important hub for connectivity, trade, energy, infrastructure and investment projects under India’s Act East Policy. Analysts believe Assam’s strategic location and improving infrastructure are making it increasingly attractive for foreign partnerships and economic cooperation.

With Himanta Sarma beginning his second term, expectations are high regarding further industrial growth, connectivity expansion and international investment opportunities in the state.
