According to an official statement, retail sales volumes surged 69 per cent to 0.14 million tonnes in November, compared to 0.084 million tonnes during the same month last year. The performance highlights SAIL’s growing footprint in the retail steel segment despite challenging global market conditions.

Broad-Based Growth Across Products and Channels

SAIL said the growth was broad-based across product categories and distribution channels, led primarily by domestic saleable steel, improved road dispatches, and increased door deliveries from warehouses.

The company also emerged as the highest seller of TMT bars in India during November, reinforcing its leadership position in the long products segment that caters to infrastructure and housing demand.

Strong Performance in April–November Period

The positive momentum was not limited to a single month. During the April–November 2025 period, SAIL recorded cumulative sales of 12.7 million tonnes, marking a 14 per cent increase compared to 11.1 million tonnes in the corresponding period last year.

Retail channel sales for the same period stood at 0.97 million tonnes, up 13 per cent from 0.86 million tonnes a year earlier, underscoring sustained demand from individual buyers, small contractors, and MSMEs.

Resilient Strategy Amid Global Challenges

SAIL attributed its resilient performance to a strong, customer-centric sales strategy and continuous efforts by its marketing teams across regions. The company navigated multiple challenges, including global steel price pressures, demand volatility, and uncertainties arising from global trade policies and geopolitical tensions.

The steel maker noted that nationwide brand promotion campaigns have also played a key role in boosting visibility and strengthening customer trust in its products.

Supporting India’s Defence Self-Reliance

Beyond commercial performance, SAIL continues to play a critical role in India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem. In October 2025, the company supplied the entire requirement of special grade steel for INS Androth, commissioned into the Indian Navy.

SAIL has supplied HR sheets and plates for all eight ASW-SWC warships, including INS Arnala and INS Androth, being constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd. (GRSE)—marking a significant milestone in India’s journey toward Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence.

Outlook

The November performance reflects SAIL’s market leadership, operational excellence, and ability to adapt in a volatile global environment. With steady domestic demand and strategic focus on retail and value-added products, the company appears well-positioned for sustained growth.
