A one-day exposure visit for newly formed Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (MPACS) was organised today at the Tripura State Cooperative Union. The programme was jointly conducted by NABARD Tripura Regional Office, Tripura State Cooperative Bank Ltd (TSCB), and the Department of Cooperation, Government of Tripura.

The event witnessed the presence of several key dignitaries, including:
1.Sri Sukla Charan Noatia, Hon’ble Minister for Cooperation
2.Sri Tapas Ray, IAS,Secretary, Department of Cooperation,Govt of Tripura
3.Sri Diganta Kumar Das, DGM, NABARD
4.Sri Dasarath Debbarma, IAS, RCS, Government of Tripura
5.Sri Nagadhiraj Dutta ,Hon’ble Chairman, Tripura State Cooperative Bank Ltd
6.Sri Bhajan Chandra Ray, Managing Director, TSCB
7.General Manager, TSCB Ltd, and officials from different departments.
Programme Inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister Shri Sukla Charan Noatia
Managing Director of TSCB Ltd, Sri Bhajan Chandra Ray, welcomed all the dignitaries and participants present in the program and explained the diverse sectors where MPACS can work and grow. He informed participants about the two PACS/LAMPS they would be visiting during the exposure tour:
• Gram Vikas LAMPS, Pathalia Ghat, Sepahijala District
• Sonamura Bibhagiya LAMPS, North Taibandal, Sonamura
He highlighted the key activities undertaken by these LAMPS and encouraged the participants to observe their operations closely and adopt best practices for their own societies.
Secretary of Cooperation Stresses Role of MPACS in Rural Development
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Tapas Roy, Secretary of the Cooperation Department, shared insights into the functioning of MPACS across India. He emphasized the growing importance of cooperative-led development and noted that in a time when government vacancies are limited, cooperative entrepreneurship is a powerful pathway to rural employment and empowerment.
NABARD Encourages New MPACS Members
Sri Diganta Kumar Das, DGM of NABARD, motivated the members of various MPACS to utilize the opportunity to learn from experienced societies and implement innovative ideas for their own growth.

Cooperation Minister: “MPACS is the Future of Gramin Economy”
Hon’ble Cooperation Minister Sri Sukla Charan Noatia underlined that MPACS will play a crucial role in strengthening the rural economy. He stated that Hon’ble Union Minister for Home & Cooperation, Sri Amit Shah, has set an ambitious national target of forming 2 lakh MPACS across India, reflecting the government’s strong focus on cooperative development.

Sri Noatia also shared his experiences from his visits to Amul Dairy in Gujarat and the Industry Fair in New Delhi, where cooperative societies from across India showcased diverse products—especially handloom sarees ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹1,00,000—that attracted buyers from India and abroad. He encouraged Tripura’s MPACS to create unique local products and make Tripura a model state in the cooperative sector.
Vote of Thanks & Flag-Off
The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Sri Biswajit Kumar Datta, General Manager ,Tripura State Cooperative Bank Ltd, after which the dignitaries officially flagged off the exposure visit.
The day-long program aims to empower new MPACS members with practical knowledge, inspire innovation, and strengthen the cooperative movement across Tripura.
