Tripura’s National Higthways
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Monday announced that the state’s damaged national highways will be repaired on a “war footing” as soon as the monsoon season ends. The northeastern state has six national highways, two of which — the Mohanpur–Khowai and Khowai–Kamalpur stretches — have suffered massive damage, drawing public criticism.

National Highways Await Post-Monsoon Overhaul
Speaking to PTI, CM Saha emphasized that road connectivity in Tripura has significantly improved under the Modi-led central government. “Barring a few stretches, national highways are in good shape. The damaged portions will be fixed quickly once the rains subside,” he said.
The Chief Minister confirmed that he has already raised the issue with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. “Gadkariji sent a team to assess the ground situation. Due to the monsoon, repairs could not begin earlier. Once the rainy season ends, repair work will be undertaken on a war footing” Saha added.
Railways Boost Connectivity in Tripura
Alongside highways, CM Saha praised the transformation of Tripura’s railway network under the NDA government. Highlighting his personal preference for rail travel, he shared his recent journey by train to Dharmanagar (North Tripura) and Kailashahar (Unakoti district) to inaugurate Durga Puja festivities.
“I never thought I could travel by train within the state. This has become possible because of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to improve railway connectivity in Tripura,” he said.

Durga Puja Engagements Across the State
The Chief Minister has been actively participating in Durga Puja inaugurations across Tripura. Despite his hectic schedule, Saha remarked on his energy and enthusiasm: “I don’t feel tired. I have already inaugurated many pujas and will continue to do so.”
Public Expectations High
With key road stretches currently in poor condition, citizens are looking forward to swift government action once weather conditions permit. Improved road and rail infrastructure remains a critical factor in boosting connectivity, trade, and tourism in the landlocked state.
As Tripura prepares to close its monsoon chapter, residents await the promised repairs that could significantly ease travel and strengthen the state’s economic links with the rest of the country.
