Tripura Police Seize Drugs, Major Seizures Across the State

According to data shared by Chief Minister Saha, the state’s law enforcement agencies — working in coordination with central intelligence units and the Narcotics Control Bureau — confiscated 896 kilograms of cannabis, 90,617 bottles of cough syrup, 180 yaba tablets, and 27.78 grams of heroin during recent operations.

In the same period, police registered 15 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and arrested 16 individuals involved in the smuggling and distribution of illegal substances.

“These operations are part of our ongoing mission to eliminate the drug menace from Tripura,” said Saha, reaffirming the state’s commitment to dismantling trafficking networks that have deeply affected the youth population.

Zero Tolerance and Border Vigilance

Tripura shares a long and porous international border with Bangladesh, making it a crucial transit route for narcotics smuggled from Myanmar through Mizoram and Manipur. The Chief Minister said the administration has intensified surveillance along the Indo-Bangladesh border and directed the police to identify and apprehend key operatives within cross-border drug networks.

Saha also highlighted that the government is working closely with central intelligence and security agencies to curb interstate and international drug trafficking routes that pass through Tripura.

Community Support and Rehabilitation Efforts

Beyond law enforcement, the Chief Minister appealed to citizens to actively support the state’s anti-drug efforts by reporting suspicious activity in their areas. He also stressed the importance of rehabilitation and awareness programs aimed at preventing addiction among young people.

“The fight against drugs is not just a policing issue — it’s a social mission,” Saha said. “We are equally committed to prevention, awareness, and rehabilitation to safeguard our future generations.”

Ongoing Battle Against Narcotics

Tripura’s latest crackdown marks one of the largest drug control operations in recent months, reflecting the state’s growing determination to curb narcotics trafficking. With sustained vigilance and cooperation between the public and authorities, officials hope to make significant progress in dismantling organized drug syndicates operating in the Northeast.
