In a major development in the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Trinamool Congress MLA Jiban Krishna Saha. The arrest was made under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after raids were conducted at his residence in Andi village, Murshidabad district.

MLA Tried to Escape, Phones Thrown into Pond
According to reports, Saha attempted to escape through the backdoor of his house when ED officials arrived for the raid. In a desperate move, he allegedly threw his mobile phones into a nearby pond, which were later recovered by investigators.
Previous Arrest and Bail in 2023
This is not the first time Saha has been under the scanner. He was previously arrested by the CBI in 2023 in connection with the same scam and was granted bail after 13 months in custody.
Simultaneous Raids on Family Members
Along with Saha, the ED also raided multiple properties linked to his relatives, including his aunt Maya Saha, a TMC councillor from Sainthia in Birbhum district, and his in-laws.
