The Indian Air Force confirmed the crash and expressed sorrow over the loss. In an official statement posted on X, the IAF said:
“An IAF Tejas aircraft met with an accident during an aerial display at Dubai Air Show, today. The pilot sustained fatal injuries in the accident. IAF deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family in this time of grief.”

Second Tejas Crash Since 2024
The incident marks the second crash involving the Tejas aircraft. The first occurred in March 2024 near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, where the pilot successfully ejected and survived. That incident was notable because it was the first crash since the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) program began flying in 2001.
The latest crash raises questions regarding safety assessments and operational risk during high-performance air shows.

Major Defence Collaboration Announced Earlier at Air Show
The crash comes just days after a significant milestone at the Dubai event. On November 19, HAL and German defence technology company HENSOLDT signed a landmark agreement to jointly develop a LiDAR-based Obstacle Avoidance System (OAS) for Indian military helicopters. The pact marks a revival of Indo-German high-technology defence collaboration after nearly 30 years.
The deal has drawn major attention in global aerospace circles, highlighting India’s expanding defence innovation footprint.
Condolences and Reactions
Military officials, aviation experts, and defence enthusiasts expressed condolences online. Many called for a thorough investigation to ensure safety improvements ahead of future air demonstrations.
More updates are expected as the official inquiry progresses.
