SITEX 2025:
The Surat International Textile Expo (SITEX) 2025 opened on Saturday in Gujarat, marking a significant leap forward in innovation for India’s rapidly expanding textile and technical fabric sector. The three-day expo has already registered over 15,000 participants, with the total visitor count expected to reach around 30,000, according to organisers.

Hosted at one of India’s largest textile hubs, the event features more than 70 exhibitors from across the world, showcasing advanced machinery, next-generation automation solutions, and breakthrough textile technology designed to enhance production efficiency and global competitiveness.

India’s First Glass Fibre Fabric Machine Steals the Spotlight
The biggest highlight of SITEX 2025 is the launch of India’s first industrial glass fibre fabric machine, a breakthrough expected to reshape multiple manufacturing industries. The innovative machine can produce high-strength fabric used for electrical circuits, automotive components, construction materials, and railway track infrastructure.
Calling it a landmark milestone, Weben Machinery Managing Director Yogesh Sutaria said:
> “This is the first launch of the glass-fibre machine in India. It will be used for multiple purposes, including electrical circuits, car components, building materials, and railway tracks.”
Organisers believe this technology will significantly expand the scope of technical textiles, strengthen India’s export capabilities, and open new avenues for specialised industrial applications.

Massive Business Potential & Trade Impact
The expo is projected to generate an estimated ₹1,000 crore in business transactions, giving a substantial boost to Surat’s textile economy.
Nikhil Madrasi, President of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce (SGCCI), stated:
> “If anyone needs something for their business, they can find it here. Around 71 companies are participating from across the world, and about 30,000 visitors are expected at the expo.”
He added that companies were showcasing advanced machinery that will modernise production processes and create growth opportunities across the textile supply chain.

Apart from the glass fibre machine, SITEX 2025 features a diverse range of high-performance textile machinery, including:
Water jet and air jet weaving machines
Digital textile printing machines
Automated needle and fusing machines
Finishing and industrial automation equipment
These advanced systems aim to improve fabric quality, reduce power consumption, and enhance operational efficiency, aligning with India’s push for smart manufacturing and global-scale textile exports.
