The investigation into the deadly Red Fort car bombing of November 10 intensified on Wednesday as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) secured 10-day custody of accused Soyab, arrested earlier in the day from Faridabad. The court-approved custody aims to uncover deeper links within the terror network responsible for the blast that killed several people and injured many.

NIA Makes 7th Arrest in the Case
Soyab, a resident of Dhoj in Faridabad, was produced before the Patiala House Court, which granted the agency 10 days of custodial interrogation. According to the NIA, Soyab harboured prime accused Dr Umar Muhammad, also known as Umar Un Nabi, shortly before the attack near the Red Fort.
He also allegedly provided logistical support crucial to the planning and execution of the explosion, making him a significant link in the ongoing probe. This makes him the seventh arrest under case number RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.
Another Accused Gets 7-Day Custody Extension
In a parallel development, the court also extended the NIA custody of Aamir Rashid Ali—another key accused—by an additional seven days, after his initial custody expired. The agency told the court that more time was needed to trace communication channels and analyse evidence retrieved from digital devices.

Umar’s ‘Mobile Workstation’ Revealed by Investigators
Emerging details from the interrogation of detained suspects shed light on the sophisticated preparations behind the blast.
According to officials familiar with the inquiry, Umar operated what investigators call a “mobile workstation”, carrying a large suitcase filled with bomb-making materials, chemical compounds, tools and containers. He reportedly moved with it from place to place, evading suspicion.
Umar, who worked as a medical professional at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, is believed to have conducted chemical experiments in his campus room before assembling the final Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
One of the arrested associates, Dr Muzamil Shakeel, also linked to the same university, confirmed that Umar had been testing substances later used in the blast.
Wider Terror Network Under Scanner
The NIA has been conducting coordinated raids across multiple states with help from local police forces, following inputs pointing towards a broader network operating behind the attack.
Officials say the crackdown is part of efforts to identify, map and dismantle all links connected to the November 10 suicide bombing.
The agency’s teams are reportedly analysing forensic materials, digital footprints and communication logs to reconstruct the sequence of events that led to the explosion.
