President Murmu Meets Tribal Leaders Under ‘Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan’

A group of distinguished tribal leaders and professionals from across India met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan as part of the ‘Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan’, an initiative by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs aimed at empowering tribal communities through leadership and development.

President Murmu, the country’s first tribal head of state, emphasized the vital role that educated members of the tribal community play in nation-building. She urged them to actively raise awareness about welfare schemes and help bridge the gap between remote communities and government benefits.

“Those who have progressed should ensure that others from their communities are not left behind,” said President Murmu. She also highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting the ‘Kristi’ (culture) and traditions of Janajati Bharat, urging collective efforts for the protection of tribal heritage.

The meeting was graced by key dignitaries, including:

  • Shri Manohar Lal, Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs and Power
  • Shri Jual Oram, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs
  • Shri Durgadas Uikey, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs
  • Smt Uttara Debbarma, National Secretary, Jan Jati Morcha

The President expressed confidence in tribal youth, noting their growing presence in sectors like education, arts, entrepreneurship, and public service. She emphasized that inclusive development is possible when tribal identity is respected and celebrated.

The ‘Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan’ seeks to create a national network of tribal achievers who will serve as role models and agents of change in their communities.
