India’s Vision: From Solar Power to Global Leadership
President Murmu emphasized that India is not only on track to meet its clean energy targets ahead of schedule but also aspires to aggregate global solar demand and drive innovation, manufacturing, and knowledge exchange.
She said the ISA represents humanity’s shared aspiration to harness solar energy as a tool for inclusion, dignity, and collective prosperity. “Our progress should not only be measured in megawatts, but in lives illuminated, families strengthened, and communities transformed,” she remarked.
Focus on People, Not Just Power
Urging ISA member nations to think beyond infrastructure, the President called for a collective action plan linking solar energy to job creation, women’s leadership, rural development, and digital inclusion.
She stressed that solar energy is not merely about power generation, but a driver of social empowerment and sustainable growth. Highlighting India’s efforts to bring electricity to its remotest villages, she said energy equity remains the foundation of social equity.
Balancing Growth with Ecology
President Murmu also underlined the importance of preserving ecological balance while expanding large-scale solar projects. “Environment conservation is the very reason we turn to green energy,” she said, adding that the world must act not only for current needs but also for future generations.

India’s Renewable Energy Milestones
Addressing the Assembly, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, highlighted India’s rapid progress — from 81 GW of renewable capacity in 2014 to 257 GW in 2025.
He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has achieved 50% of its installed power capacity from non-fossil sources—five years ahead of the 2030 goal.
Flagship initiatives such as PM-KUSUM, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, PM-JANMAN, and One Sun, One World, One Grid are empowering rural households, promoting energy justice, and strengthening South-South cooperation, Joshi added.
A Solar-Powered Future
Led by India, the International Solar Alliance is a treaty-based intergovernmental organization promoting the global adoption of solar energy, especially in developing nations.
President Murmu concluded by expressing confidence that the ISA’s deliberations will mark a milestone in building a cleaner, more equitable, and inclusive world powered by solar energy.
