In his article, Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia reflected on his visit to the region, stating that the breathtaking beauty of the Northeast is matched only by the warmth and resilience of its people.

Scindia also highlighted his visit to the Mushroom Development Centre in Upper Shillong, where science and community efforts are transforming rural livelihoods.

Established in 1982 under the North Eastern Council, the centre now hosts a Shiitake Mushroom Production and Training Centre, producing around 1.5 lakh sawdust blocks annually — each yielding a kilogram of high-value mushrooms worth up to ₹1,000.

“Beyond the numbers,” Scindia said, “what touched me most were the faces of the farmers—filled with pride and purpose—as they spoke of dignified livelihoods, green entrepreneurship, and a truly Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) Northeast envisioned by PM Modi.

A New Era for the Northeast

The statements from PM Modi and Minister Scindia together reaffirm the Centre’s focus on the Act East Policy, positioning the Northeast as a strategic and economic hub linking India with Southeast Asia.

Once seen as a distant frontier, the region today stands at the forefront of India’s growth story, embodying the country’s spirit of unity, resilience, and progress.
