In a proud moment for Tripura, North Tripura district has been declared the Best Performing District under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN) by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. The prestigious award was presented by Hon’ble President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, recognizing the district’s exceptional efforts in uplifting tribal communities through effective implementation of government schemes.

The PM JANMAN initiative, launched by the Central Government, aims to ensure holistic development and justice for Scheduled Tribes and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) across India. North Tripura stood out for its innovative implementation, strong community participation, and effective coordination between departments, resulting in tangible improvements in the lives of tribal families.
Officials from the District Welfare Office (DWO), Block Development Officers (BDOs), and various line departments played a key role in driving welfare programmes under the guidance of the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tripura.

Expressing gratitude after receiving the award, the district representative said,
> “This recognition is a testament to the great teamwork and dedication of our DWO, BDOs, and all departments working tirelessly for the tribal communities of Tripura.”
The official also extended heartfelt thanks to the Self Help Group (SHG) didis of Damcherra for gifting a beautiful Bru Rignai set, symbolizing the rich cultural heritage of the state. “It’s an honour to wear Tripura’s tradition on a national platform,” the representative added.
The PM JANMAN Abhiyan focuses on improving access to housing, healthcare, education, livelihood, and digital connectivity in tribal areas. Through coordinated efforts, North Tripura demonstrated measurable outcomes in social inclusion, women’s empowerment, and sustainable tribal livelihoods — setting a benchmark for other districts nationwide.
