Speaking to foreign media in Jerusalem, Netanyahu said the planned operation would focus on Hamas’ last two strongholds in Gaza. “Our goal is not to occupy Gaza, our goal is to free Gaza,” he stressed, dismissing claims that Israel seeks permanent control of the territory.

The prime minister outlined three main objectives:
1. Demilitarizing Gaza
2. Ensuring overriding Israeli security control
3. Transferring governance to a non-Israeli civilian administration

Netanyahu also announced a shift in media policy, instructing the military to allow more foreign journalists into Gaza — a departure from the strict press restrictions in place since the conflict began.

He condemned what he called a “global campaign of lies” about Israel’s conduct and set a “fairly short timetable” for the upcoming offensive. Netanyahu reiterated that Hamas bears full responsibility for Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, accusing the group of using civilians as human shields and refusing to lay down arms.

The renewed push comes as fresh violence in Gaza left dozens of Palestinians dead, intensifying scrutiny of Israel’s war strategy and deepening diplomatic rifts.
