Honoring the Iron Man of India on Unity Day

The Unity Day program witnessed enthusiastic participation from local leaders and party workers. Former Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik said the camp was a tribute to the Iron Man of India, emphasizing that “Tripura is part of India today because of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s courage and vision.” She congratulated all the blood donors and appealed to citizens to follow Patel’s ideals of unity and patriotism.

Speaking at the event, Sunil Deodhar recalled Sardar Patel’s historic role in ensuring Tripura’s merger with India after Independence. He noted, “Had Tripura become part of Pakistan, the people here would have faced atrocities like the Hindus and Chakmas in Bangladesh. Responding to Queen Kanchana Prabha Devi’s call, Sardar Patel sent Indian troops by air and saved the state from Razakar forces.”

Deodhar urged citizens never to forget Patel’s contribution, calling him “the architect of India’s unity.”

Pratima Bhowmik Back in Political Spotlight

Observers noted that Pratima Bhowmik, who has recently returned to the forefront of Tripura politics, is once again leading public initiatives. A few weeks ago, her vehicle was stopped in Ambasa, drawing criticism from party circles. However, her presence at the recent BJP state meeting and Friday’s blood donation camp signals a renewed political engagement.

Nation Celebrates Rashtriya Ekta Diwas

Across India, Unity Day was celebrated with parades, pledges, and cultural programs to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s unmatched legacy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a massive gathering at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, said, “Every Indian must reject any thought or action that weakens our national fabric. After Independence, Sardar Patel united over 550 princely states—turning the impossible into reality.”

The Prime Minister also highlighted the country’s internal security achievements since 2014, stating that Maoist-affected districts have reduced from nearly 100 to just 11.

PM Modi on the Statue of Unity

On social media platform X, PM Modi shared, “The Statue of Unity is a tribute to Sardar Patel and was built through a mass movement that connected every corner of India.

He also reposted from the Modi Archive, which recounted how the Statue of Unity was conceived in October 2010, when Modi, then Gujarat Chief Minister, envisioned the world’s tallest statue as a symbol of India’s strength and unity.

Sardar Patel’s statue will remind those who question India’s existence that this nation was, is, and will remain eternal,” the post quoted Modi as saying.

Remembering a Legacy of Unity

As Tripura leaders and citizens joined hands through blood donation and patriotic remembrance, the message of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” echoed across the state. The celebration reaffirmed the nation’s collective resolve to uphold Sardar Patel’s legacy of unity, courage, and unwavering service to India.
