Modi Flags Off Bengaluru’s Namma Metro Yellow Line, Vande Bharat Express

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the much-anticipated 19.15-km Yellow Line of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro, linking R.V. Road Metro Station to Bommasandra, after nearly four years of delays. The launch is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion at the notorious Silk Board junction and improve connectivity to Electronic City — the city’s IT hub.

PM Modi flagged off the Bengaluru’s Namma Metro.The inaugural metro service at Ragigudda Metro Station, explored QR code-enabled ticket vending machines, and even boarded the first ride to Electronic City alongside schoolchildren. A woman loco pilot operated the inaugural run, although the Yellow Line is equipped for driverless operations in the future.

Alongside the metro inauguration, Mr. Modi launched three Vande Bharat Express services — the KSR Bengaluru–Belagavi route, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar route, and Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune route. He also laid the foundation stone for Namma Metro’s Phase 3 at the IIIT-B auditorium in Electronics City.
Speaking at the event, PM Modi credited the success of “Operation Sindoor” to India’s growing technological prowess and the Make in India initiative, highlighting Bengaluru’s role as the country’s innovation capital.
