The Khelo India University Games (KIUG) Rajasthan 2025 witnessed a spectacular day of performances on Wednesday as trap shooter Neeru Dhanda clinched her fourth consecutive individual gold medal, cementing Guru Nanak Dev University’s (GNDU) growing dominance in the competition. Meanwhile, Jain University retained its position at the top of the overall medal tally.

Neeru Dhanda Leads GNDU’s Golden Clean Sweep
At the Jagatpur Shooting Range, Neeru delivered a stellar performance with 47 points in the final, outperforming fellow GNDU shooters Manisha Keer (39) and Nandika Singh (30), who took home silver and bronze. The trio also captured the team gold with a strong tally of 344 points, marking GNDU’s complete dominance of the women’s trap event.
“This is my last KIUG, and I wanted to finish with a gold,” Neeru told SAI Media. The shooter, who won silver at the 2020 Khelo India Youth Games, has since maintained a golden streak across four consecutive University Games editions.
GNDU’s Medals Surge with Cycling Wins and Men’s Trap Gold
GNDU’s momentum continued as cyclist Meenakshi Rohilla grabbed the women’s individual road race gold, while Akshar Tyagi clinched gold in the men’s event. These victories pushed GNDU’s medal tally into double digits.
In men’s trap shooting, Aditya Bharadwaj secured gold with 45 points, helping GNDU complete another golden double. Punjabi University’s Jungsher Singh Virk won silver, while Bhaktiyaar Malik claimed bronze.
Jain University Maintains Top Spot With Swimming Dominance
The defending champions Jain University continued to lead the rankings with 12 gold, 6 silver, and 7 bronze medals, thanks to a strong run in swimming. They secured gold in both men’s and women’s 4×100 freestyle relays, while Nina Venkatesh and Bhavya Sachdeva added individual titles.
Chandigarh University swimmer Harsh Saroha delivered a surprise by defeating Olympian Srihari Nataraj in the 50m butterfly, before also winning the 200m butterfly gold.

Wrestling: Rajasthan’s Sagar Delights Home Fans
At Bharatpur’s Loragarh Indoor Stadium, hosts Rajasthan celebrated a major win as Sagar (Dr KN Modi University) captured gold in the men’s 97kg Greco-Roman category. He capitalised on rival Ritik’s leg injury to secure his second KIUG gold, following his earlier 130kg triumph in Kohima.
Meanwhile, Lovely Professional University strengthened its third-place standing with three wrestling golds.
KIUG 2025: A Massive Nationwide Sporting Event
The fifth edition of KIUG is being hosted across seven cities in Rajasthan, featuring 4448 athletes from 222 universities competing in 23 sports disciplines under the supervision of the Sports Authority of India.
Day 6 also included competitive action in badminton, fencing, judo, rugby, football, swimming, weightlifting, and cycling, highlighting the scale and diversity of the national university sporting extravaganza.
