The milestone came in the high-stakes series decider of India’s multi-format tour of Australia, underlining Rodrigues’ growing stature in international cricket.

Rodrigues Joins Elite Indian Club

Walking in at No. 3, Rodrigues needed just eight runs to reach the landmark, having accumulated 2492 runs in 104 innings prior to the match. Playing her 118th T20I, the stylish right-hander crossed the 2500-run mark with a boundary off Australia pacer Kim Garth in the fifth over of India’s innings after opting to bat first.

With this achievement, Rodrigues became only the fourth Indian woman to reach 2500 runs in T20Is, joining captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, and explosive opener Shafali Verma.

Mandhana had reached the milestone earlier this week in Canberra with a brisk 29 off 23 balls, further highlighting India’s strong batting core.

Harmanpreet Kaur Sets All-Time Appearance Record

The match also witnessed a historic achievement from skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. On February 19, in her 356th international appearance, she surpassed New Zealand legend Suzie Bates to become the most-capped woman in international cricket history.
Australia’s veteran all-rounder Ellyse Perry also reached a significant milestone, making her 350th international appearance — the first Australian woman to achieve the feat and marking 20 years at the top level.

Series Recap: India vs Australia T20I Battle

The three-match series has been fiercely contested. In the opener at the SCG, India bowled Australia out for 133 and were comfortably ahead of the DLS par score at 50/1 in 5.1 overs when rain intervened, handing the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Australia bounced back strongly in the second T20I at Manuka Oval in Canberra, powered by Georgia Voll’s aggressive 88. Despite India’s quick start in the chase, disciplined Australian bowling triggered a collapse, allowing the hosts to level the series.

In the series decider at Adelaide, India reached 101/1 in 12 overs, thanks to Mandhana’s powerful half-century and Rodrigues’ fluent strokeplay, keeping the contest finely poised.

A Milestone That Signals Consistency

Rodrigues’ 2500-run landmark underscores her consistency and adaptability in the shortest format. At just 25, she has already become a vital pillar of India’s T20 setup and a key performer in global tournaments.
As India and Australia battle for supremacy, individual milestones have added extra significance to an already thrilling contest — a testament to the growing competitiveness of women’s cricket.
