Shi Yuqi Ends Wait for World Glory

Top seed Shi Yuqi, 29, overcame defending champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand in a thrilling final. After dropping the opening game 19-21, Shi fought back strongly, dominating the second 21-10 before holding his nerve in a tense decider to win 21-18.

Shi, runner-up in 2018, looked in full control at 17-10 in the final game, but Vitidsarn closed the gap to 19-18. The Chinese star, however, sealed victory when Vitidsarn’s shot went long, completing a hard-fought battle lasting one hour and 17 minutes.

This win marks Shi’s 10th consecutive final triumph, underlining his current dominance on the world stage.

Yamaguchi Joins Elite Club with Third Title

In the women’s singles, Akane Yamaguchi of Japan crushed China’s Chen Yufei 21-9, 21-13 in just 37 minutes. With this, the 28-year-old became only the second woman after Spain’s Carolina Marin to win three world singles titles (2021, 2022, 2025).
