The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura has decided to contest all 28 seats independently in the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections 2026, marking a significant political move ahead of the polls.

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Manik Saha after a core committee meeting held at the party’s state office. He confirmed that the candidate list has been finalized and approved by the central leadership, following which the official list has now been released.
Candidate List Finalized
According to the official list issued by the party’s state unit, candidates have been named for all 28 constituencies of the TTAADC. The decision reflects BJP’s strategy to strengthen its independent presence in the ADC, where it currently plays the role of opposition.
The meeting was attended by senior leaders including State BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee, along with ministers such as Tinku Roy, Ratan Lal Nath, Bikas Debbarma, and Pranajit Singha Roy. Other prominent leaders including Pratima Bhoumik and Rebati Tripura were also present.
Alliance Dynamics and Political Strategy
Speaking on alliance partners, the Chief Minister referred to the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), stating that the party had already declared its candidates independently. “We are discussing the matter with them to understand the situation,” he said.
On the Tipra Motha Party, Dr. Saha noted that although it is part of the state government, each party is free to adopt its own strategy. “In the ADC, BJP is in the opposition and not in an alliance. So we will contest all seats independently,” he added.
Confident of Victory
Expressing strong confidence, Dr. Saha said the party is fully prepared for the elections and optimistic about the outcome.
“We are 100 percent sure of our victory,” he asserted.
Key Electoral Contest Ahead
The TTAADC elections are expected to witness a multi-cornered contest, with BJP, Tipra Motha, and IPFT all fielding candidates separately. Political observers believe the election will be crucial in shaping the future political landscape of Tripura’s tribal areas.
