Rehabilitation and Reintegration Support

Under the Poona Margem policy, the surrendered cadres will receive financial assistance, skill development opportunities, and social support, aimed at helping them start a new life away from armed ideology.

Officials described the surrender as a major achievement in the ongoing campaign against Maoist extremism in the region.

Sustained Pressure Weakens Maoist Influence

According to official data, since January 1, 2024, Bijapur district alone has witnessed 888 Maoists returning to the mainstream, while 1,163 have been arrested and 231 killed in encounters.
Authorities attribute the rising trend of surrenders to sustained pressure from security forces, the establishment of camps in remote areas, continuous dialogue, development initiatives, and the effectiveness of attractive rehabilitation packages.

The development underscores coordinated efforts by state police, central forces, local administration, and local communities in restoring peace and promoting development across the Bastar region.
