Tripura Signs Major MoU with Patanjali Yogpeeth:
In a significant step towards attracting investment and accelerating sustainable development, the Government of Tripura has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Patanjali Yogpeeth (Trust), Haridwar. The agreement marks the beginning of a wide-ranging development partnership covering multiple high-potential sectors across the state.
The MoU aims to create a structured framework for collaboration, project identification, and long-term investment, with a focus on inclusive and eco-friendly growth.

Multi-Sector Collaboration to Unlock Tripura’s Potential
According to officials, the umbrella MoU — which carries non-binding provisions — spans diverse sectors including biodiversity conservation, bamboo and agar-based value chains, AYUSH and wellness, agritech, tourism, information technology, skill development, tribal welfare, and rural livelihood generation.
The partnership seeks to leverage Patanjali Yogpeeth’s national-level expertise in Ayurveda, yoga, organic food processing, and rural development to complement Tripura’s natural resources and strategic location in the Northeast.
Forest Department Signs Separate MoU for Agro-Forest Value Chains
In addition to the overarching agreement, a sector-specific MoU was signed between the Forest Department of the Government of Tripura and Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust. This agreement focuses on strengthening forest and agro-forest value chain development, research, and innovation.
Key areas of cooperation include:
1.Scientific research on agarwood
2.Digitisation and mapping of forest resources
3.Development of ethical and sustainable global marketing channels
4.Value addition of forest produce
5.Biodiversity exploration and conservation
The MoU also envisions the establishment of supporting infrastructure such as research centres, seed banks, and wellness-driven eco-tourism assets within the state.
