The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the restructuring and extension of the PM Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) Scheme beyond December 31, 2024. The scheme will now continue till March 31, 2030, with a total financial outlay of ₹7,332 crore, aiming to benefit 1.15 crore street vendors, including 50 lakh new beneficiaries.

Launched in June 2020 to support street vendors during the COVID-19 pandemic, PM SVANidhi has become a flagship program for financial inclusion, digital empowerment, and livelihood generation.
Key Highlights of the Restructured PM SVANidhi Scheme
- Extended Period: Now valid till March 2030.
- Beneficiaries: 1.15 crore, including 50 lakh new entrants.
- Loan Enhancement:
- 1st tranche: Increased to ₹15,000 (from ₹10,000).
- 2nd tranche: Increased to ₹25,000 (from ₹20,000).
- 3rd tranche: ₹50,000 (unchanged).

- Digital Push:
- Introduction of UPI-linked RuPay Credit Card after repayment of 2nd loan.
- Cashback incentives up to ₹1,600 for digital transactions.
- Wider Coverage: To include census towns and peri-urban areas beyond statutory towns.
- Capacity Building: Training in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, digital skills, marketing, food safety, and hygiene (in partnership with FSSAI).
- ‘SVANidhi Se Samriddhi’: Strengthened to provide holistic welfare through Lok Kalyan Melas ensuring convergence of Central schemes.
Achievements of PM SVANidhi (as of July 30, 2025)
- 96 lakh loans disbursed worth ₹13,797 crore to over 68 lakh vendors.
- 47 lakh beneficiaries digitally active, with 557 crore transactions worth ₹6.09 lakh crore.
- Beneficiaries earned ₹241 crore cashback through digital transactions.
- 46 lakh vendors profiled under SVANidhi Se Samriddhi, leading to 1.38 crore scheme sanctions across 3,564 ULBs.
- Recognised with PM’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration (2023) and Silver Award for Digital Transformation (2022).
Government’s Statement
The Cabinet noted that extending PM SVANidhi will empower street vendors with reliable finance, ensure socio-economic upliftment, and help transform urban spaces into vibrant ecosystems.
