The incident occurred on Tuesday evening (local time), prompting emergency alerts and a large-scale police response.

Victims Found at School and Nearby Home

According to Chief Superintendent Ken Floyd of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Northern District, seven victims were found inside a local high school, while two others were discovered at a nearby residence. Police confirmed that the shootings at both locations were connected.

The alleged shooter was located dead inside the school building.

Approximately 100 students and staff members were safely evacuated from the school. Two individuals with serious injuries were airlifted to hospital, and around 25 others were treated at a local medical centre for injuries.

An active shooter alert issued to residents described the suspect as a brown-haired female wearing a dress. However, citing privacy concerns and the ongoing investigation, Floyd did not confirm whether the suspect was a student or an adult.

The investigation into the Tumbler Ridge shooting remains ongoing.
