Gajendra Verma, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TRESP, said the project’s top priority is the construction of over 416 km of all-weather roads, a key component to meet the deadline. “We’ve completed 71.49 km so far, and construction is underway for another 133.41 km. Work orders have been issued for an additional 133.41 km,” Verma stated.

With over ₹500 crore allocated to road infrastructure from a total outlay of ₹1,400 crore, TRESP aims to stimulate economic growth in rural and tribal regions. The project will benefit 23 rural development blocks, including 11 identified as aspirational blocks.

As part of its human capital investment, TRESP will build 12 new school buildings in tribal-dominated areas. Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) have been prepared, and construction is already underway for four schools. The plan also includes training programs for teachers to enhance classroom quality and teaching effectiveness.

In a bid to boost rural livelihoods, TRESP has formed 2,000 producer groups (PGs) under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Management (TRLM) programme, targeting a total of 2,500 groups.

The initiative will also enhance citizen service delivery by developing single-window digital platforms—accessible via mobile and web—to streamline access to government schemes. A commissioned firm is studying IT solutions, covering 144 services and schemes, and working on government process re-engineering.

Additionally, the Tripura Space Application Centre (TSAC) will onboard a firm to integrate a real-time dashboard system for mobile data collection, processing, and visualization.

Launched in March 2024, TRESP is funded with ₹1,120 crore from the World Bank, making it one of the most ambitious rural development projects in Tripura’s history.
