Tripura Jungle Raj : Political tensions escalated in BJP-ruled Tripura after the Trinamool Congress (TMC) accused the ruling party of orchestrating a violent attack on its Agartala office. TMC leaders termed the incident “a perfect example of Jungle Raj and political anarchy” in the northeastern state.

According to TMC representatives, BJP workers allegedly vandalized and looted the Trinamool party office in Agartala on Tuesday, while state police “stood by as silent spectators.” The incident has sparked outrage, with TMC delegations staging protests at Kolkata airport before leaving for Tripura to support their colleagues.
Tripura Jungle Raj: TMC Leaders Condemn Violence, Announce Delegation Visit
The Trinamool delegation comprises MPs Pratima Mandal, Sayani Ghosh, Sushmita Dev, Minister Birbaha Hansda, former MP Kunal Ghosh, and youth leader Sudeep Raha.
The team is expected to assess the situation on the ground, meet affected workers, and formally raise the issue with the Tripura administration.
Kunal Ghosh said, “Our state office in Tripura has been vandalized indiscriminately. The police watched as BJP workers destroyed everything. This is not democracy—it’s a reign of terror.”
He added that while TMC does not support any physical violence, the BJP must understand why public anger is rising. “BJP leaders repeatedly block central funds and then call those who speak in Bengali ‘Bangladeshis’. Such politics fuels resentment,” Ghosh noted.
Saayoni Ghosh: ‘Tripura Law and Order in Shambles’
TMC leader Saayoni Ghosh accused the BJP of double standards, saying, “They lecture us about law and order, but look at Tripura today. Our office is vandalized, our workers attacked, and yet the police do nothing.”
She affirmed that TMC’s visit to Tripura is to show solidarity with local party members and emphasized, “We are not afraid. If the law and order situation deteriorates, the BJP government will be solely responsible.”

Background: History of Clashes in Tripura
This is not the first time that violence has marred TMC’s political activities in Tripura. In 2021, Abhishek Banerjee’s convoy was attacked, and Sayani Ghosh was detained amid high political tension.
TMC leaders claim that such incidents reflect a pattern of intimidation and suppression under BJP’s governance in the state.
TMC Reaffirms Its Resolve
Despite the threats, TMC leaders said they would continue their democratic fight against political oppression. “No matter how much state-sponsored terrorism rises, the fire of our resolve cannot be extinguished,” the party said in a statement.
