Tripura Enters High-Tech Floriculture Map
Tripura has now entered the list of high-tech floriculture states, with successful cultivation of Anthurium, Orchid, and Gerbera under controlled conditions. The Minister noted that the state’s fertile soil, adequate rainfall, and subtropical climate provide ideal conditions for commercial flower production.
“Flowers offer the highest income among crops, but cultivation must be location-specific. Our goal is self-reliance and house-to-house employment,” Nath said. He also mentioned that flowers can be used for producing natural colours for Holi, perfumes, and medicines, further expanding market opportunities.

Major Infrastructure Boost for Farmers
To strengthen the sector, the government has built:
• A 400 sq. mt. arcadium
• A 400 sq. mt. hardening centre at Badharghat Garden
These facilities aim to maintain quality standards and supply high-grade flower seedlings to farmers at affordable prices.
The newly inaugurated park will officially function as the Centre of Floriculture and Landscaping from now on.
Centre of Excellence Coming Up in Lembuchara
In another major initiative, a Centre of Excellence on Flowers is being developed at Lembuchara across approximately 65 kani of land under joint collaboration between the Central and State governments.
The project will focus on cultivating orchids, anthurium, gerbera, roses, chrysanthemums, and various leafy plants. It will also offer training facilities and ensure the supply of quality seedlings based on market demand.
The government hopes this initiative will help Tripura reach a new benchmark in flower production and strengthen rural livelihoods.
