CM Manik Saha Pushing for Faster Project Implementation

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dr. Saha shared,

> “Met Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman Ji in New Delhi today. Discussed the need for enhancing the ceiling limit of Externally Aided Projects (EAPs), since a number of crucial projects under Urban Development, Tourism, and the Agartala Municipal Corporation are awaiting progress due to the present ceiling restriction.”

According to officials, the enhancement of the EAP ceiling is vital for ensuring the timely implementation of Tripura’s key infrastructure projects funded with international aid or multilateral assistance.
The move could significantly boost the urban landscape, tourism sector, and municipal infrastructure in Agartala and other major towns across the state.

State’s Focus on Infrastructure and Tourism

Tripura has been actively promoting development under the “Act East Policy” and seeks to become a gateway to Southeast Asia through improved connectivity and infrastructure.
The Chief Minister emphasized that raising the EAP ceiling would allow the government to take forward pending projects and initiate new ones aimed at improving civic amenities and tourism potential.

Analysts note that a higher EAP limit could attract more external funding partners, helping Tripura strengthen its urban development, water supply, road connectivity, and heritage tourism initiatives.
