In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the IDF confirmed:
> “Returning to Their Borders.Seven Israeli hostages returning have now met IDF and Shin Bet forces in the Gaza Strip, and they are on their way to Israeli territory.”
Upon arrival, the freed individuals will undergo medical assessments before reuniting with their families. The IDF expressed deep gratitude to its personnel and called on the public to respect the privacy of the returnees during this sensitive time.
“IDF commanders and soldiers salute and embrace the returnees on their way back home,” the statement read.
More Releases Expected Under Ceasefire Agreement
The IDF spokesperson noted that 13 additional hostages are expected to be released later in the day from different parts of Gaza.
Earlier, Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades announced the first phase of a ceasefire and prisoner swap deal, pledging to free 20 “living Israeli captives.”
In a statement, the group said:
> “The agreement reached is the fruit of the steadfastness of our people and the resilience of its resistance fighters. We announce our commitment to the agreement reached and the related timelines as long as the occupation adheres to it.”
Hamas also accused Israel of delaying negotiations, claiming that “the occupation could have returned most of its captives alive many months ago.”

Emotional Scenes Across Israel
Thousands of Israelis gathered at the Nova music festival site, where hundreds were killed and abducted during the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, for special holiday prayer services. Many prayed for the safe return of the remaining hostages still held in Gaza.
The latest development brings renewed hope for dozens of families awaiting news of their loved ones, as international mediators push for full implementation of the ceasefire terms.
Looking Ahead
While the release marks a significant humanitarian step, both sides remain cautious. The deal’s success depends on continued adherence to the agreed timelines and conditions.
The IDF confirmed that it is “prepared to receive additional hostages” expected to be transferred to the Red Cross later today.
